Tornado Destroys Barn As Man Hides Inside

HUDSON, Colo. (CBS4) - Five tornadoes touched down on Colorado's Eastern Plains on Saturday afternoon, causing damage in some areas.

The National Weather Service confirmed the touchdowns were in Adams County and Weld County. Three of those were in the areas of Hudson, Watkins and Bennet.

A CBS4 crew traveled to Hudson and found one barn that was destroyed by the winds from one of the twisters and another that was partially damaged.

Roman Glemba, of Hudson, told CBS4 he ran and hid in his barn in Hudson after seeing a tree flying up in the air when the tornado first struck his property.

He wasn't hurt because he wedged himself between his tool chest and his refrigerator, but the barn was mostly destroyed.

"Stuff was flying around everywhere," he said.

Some minor reports of wind damage also came in near Brighton, and CBS4 meteorologist Dave Aguilera said small hail and brief heavy rain was spread out from Englewood south to Highlands Ranch out to SE Denver and Aurora.
