Powers Scores Twice Rapids Beat Impact 4-1

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Dillon Powers scored on a penalty kick in the fifth minute and added a second- half goal in the Colorado Rapids' 4-1 victory over the Montreal Impact on Saturday night.

Kamani Hill and Shane O'Neill also scored in the second half to help Colorado (5-4-3) snap a two-game losing streak. Colorado has won all three meetings between the teams.

"I was upset that we were sitting back in the first half after we got the goal and that's not what we want to do," Colorado coach Pablo Mastroeni said. "At halftime it was more a mentality and making sure they understood what we wanted to achieve and they did that."

Andres Romero scored in the 88th minute for Montreal (1-6-4), which dropped to 0-3-4 on the road. The lowest-scoring team in the MLS, the Impact have three goals in their last five games and nine for the season.

Justin Mapp had two scoring chances for the Impact, but was denied by Clint Irwin's sprawling save in the eighth minute. Mapp hit the left post in the 50th minute.

"We had some good chances. My players gave everything," Montreal coach Frank Klopas said. "There's nothing I can complain about. They had three shots that went in and the PK."
