BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)– A coyote attacked a man and his dog one mile from the University of Colorado campus in Boulder.

The attack happened on Thursday on the CU Boulder East Campus property in a wooded area near Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Avenue.

The man said the coyote watched them for a while then approached them and attacked the dog. Then the coyote lunged at the man and bit his arm.

The man was eventually able to fend off the animal by swinging a stick.
