Woman Pleads Guilty To Tampering In Murder Case

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) — A Broomfield woman accused of trying to remove blood stains from the carpet after what police say was a deadly argument at her home has pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence.

The Broomfield Enterprise reports Carissa Koch entered her plea Friday and is scheduled to be sentenced June 19.

Koch's husband, Matthew P. Burnett, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old James Clifford Fernandez and is scheduled to be sentenced May 23.

Police say Fernandez' body was found on a street Aug. 17 after he got in an argument with Burnett at the couple's home.

An arrest affidavit says Burnett attacked Fernandez after finding him in a "compromising position" with his wife. Fernandez sustained head trauma during the struggle.
