Aspen Murder Suspect Fights Release Of Documents
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — The lawyer for one of three people accused in the killing of Aspen socialite Nancy Pfister says the allegations against her are largely based on "self-serving statements" of Pfister's assistant, who is also a suspect.
Lawyer Garth McCarty represents Nancy Styler, who rented Pfister's home with her husband, William Styler, who is also a suspect. In a motion filed in support of keeping court documents sealed, McCarty says that suspicions against Nancy Styler was largely based on a statements from Katherine Carpenter.
Both the Aspen Times and the Aspen Daily News received copies of the filing because they, along with The Associated Press, are asking for documents to be unsealed.
McCarty says that Nancy Styler's arrest affidavit contains numerous misleading statements and that releasing it would prejudice the public.
