Not-So-Traditional Good Friday Service Held At State Capitol
DENVER (CBS4) - It's Good Friday when Christians mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and at the state Capitol one church held a not-so-traditional service.
For the past two decades the Washington Park United Church of Christ has spent Good Friday traveling to sites across Denver where people have died from gun violence. Now they hosted a service on the west steps.
"It has been pretty bad in our schools, especially our children. We, as people of faith, we believe that all children, all creatures, should live in peace, free from all kinds of violence," Rev. Nancy Rosas with the Washington Park United Church of Christ said.
Organizers said the service connects the violence against Jesus with the violence in Denver and around the world.
