Court Date Set For Couple Accused Of Starving Their Children

DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver couple accused of starving their four young sons in a filthy apartment will go on trial this fall.

Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey were in court Friday and a trial date was set for September 2. They each face four counts of felony child abuse.

The boys, ages 2, 4, 5 and 6 were taken from their home in October and are now in protective custody.

Hospital exams showed they could communicate only in grunts, were malnourished and were not toilet trained.
