Youth Tanning Bed Limits Rejected In Colorado
DENVER (AP) - A proposal to ban children from artificial tanning beds has been rejected in the Colorado Legislature.
A Senate committee voted 4-3 against the tanning bed proposal on Wednesday. The measure had already passed the House.
At least 33 states and Washington, D.C., limit or ban childhood use of commercial tanning beds. Colorado has no limits, though many salons require parental permission or otherwise limit youth access to tanning beds.
The bill would have banned all commercial tanning bed use by people under 18. A proposal to allow some tanning bed use by 16- and 17-year-olds was considered but rejected in the House.
It is at least the third year Colorado lawmakers have considered but rejected youth tanning bed limits.
