More Than 24,000 In Boulder Have Power Restored After Outage

BOULDER, Colo. (AP/CBS4) — Xcel Energy says power has been restored to more than 24,000 customers across Boulder after a massive outage Monday morning.

Xcel spokesman Gabriel Romero said the outage was due to a "transmission disturbance." He said it is not known what caused the disturbance and crews are working to determine what happened.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Romero said that because it was a transmission issue, rerouting power to affected customers would have been difficult.

Boulder police dispatchers indicate traffic lights were down at several major intersections and officers had to direct traffic.
