Police Searching For Suspects Breaking Into Laundry Rooms

DENVER (CBS4) – Police say two suspects are breaking their way into apartment buildings and heading straight for coin operated laundry rooms.

Authorities say the suspects struck seven times over the last year at Capitol Hill apartment buildings, cashing in on coins collected from laundry machines.

One such building is located at 16th Avenue and Pennsylvania Street, while another is near 13th Avenue and Vine Street.

Surveillance video caught the first suspect looking around before breaking in through a front door. When he reaches the interior door he jimmies it open with a crowbar before wiping the handle clean of any fingerprints. His accomplice comes in through another door and he seems to glance at the camera.

Inside the laundry room one man shakes a machine perhaps hoping for the sound of coins rattling around inside. Then in an effort to hide their identities one man spray paints the camera lens.

Despite their evasive moves police are hoping someone recognizes the men in the video. They are asking anyone with information to please contact them.
