FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- Fort Collins is the latest city in Colorado to propose a fee for shopping bags.

The Fort Collins City Council will hear public opinion on a proposed plan to charge shoppers for bags.

The merchants would keep the money from the fee.

The Fort Collins City Council is hosting an open house to hear public opinion on the proposal on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the city building.

The city council will review comments and then review the ordinance on May 20.

Boulder was the first city in Colorado to charge for shopping bags.
