Police Search For Man Accused Of Stealing From A Church

DENVER (CBS4) – Police in Denver are searching for a man suspected of stealing from a church and suspected in several other similar thefts.

Police released surveillance video from the Korean Christian Church near University Boulevard and Arkansas Avenue.

The suspect used mats to cover his face and to cover a security camera in an attempt to blackout his next move.

However he missed another camera down a hall that recorded him walking in empty handed but saw him leaving carrying what police say is audio equipment.

Denver police think the man could be responsible for several other church burglaries.

Earlier in March someone stole wireless microphones from Cherry Hill's First Church Of The Nazarene..

"Somebody came in and took just about 10 microphones right off our platform," said Pastor Rich Cantwell.

Those microphones are valued at nearly $10,000.

Cantwell says pricey equipment is becoming a new norm for churches thus, an attractive target for thieves.

"They're becoming more technological and because of that equipment is much more expensive and I believe churches are just easy targets," said Cantwell.

Denver police say it's possible the man seen in the video, also stole money and electronics from five other churches in the metro area.
