A spokeswoman for Colorado State Patrol said that the deputies were tracking down a dangerous driver.

When they exited I-25 south the car lost control, went off the south side of the road, then hit a guardrail and light pole before rolling down a hill.

Both deputies were rushed to Denver Health with serious injuries.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office didn't want to comment on the crash but wrote on their Twitter page "the two deputies are still in the hospital. One of them is just finishing up surgery. Keep them in your thoughts."

Authorities have not released the identities of the two deputies.
