Colorado Democrats Uphold Concealed Gun Permits

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Democrats continue to hold the line against Republican attempts to roll back gun restrictions, voting again to turn down a proposal removing permit requirements to carry concealed weapons.

The House Judiciary Committee voted 7-4 on a party-line vote Tuesday to reject the bill from Republican Rep. Jared Wright. The bill would have removed the requirement to obtain a permit in order to carry concealed handguns.

The vote came a day after another Democratic committee rejected a Republican measure to decrease background-check requirements for gun purchases.

Democrats have insisted that the package of gun-control measures they passed last year will improve public safety. Republicans say Second Amendment right have been illegally curtailed and that gun rights should be expanded.
