Police Arrest Escaped Juvenile With Violent History

DENVER (CBS4) – A young man with a violent criminal history has been arrested after escaping and setting off a big search.

Police were searching for Adonnis Rucker, 17, who is facing "four counts of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of attempted sexual assault, two counts of aggravated robbery, and two counts of felony menacing in connection with separate incidents that occurred on Jan. 8 and Jan. 16 in Denver," according to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office.

He was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday.

"Denver police attempted to take him into custody on Jan. 17 in the 12300 block of East Albrook Drive at the Park-n-Ride when Rucker attempted to flee and collided with a patrol car," Kimbrough said in a statement. "Rucker was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries before being returned to juvenile custody.

"While being transported for a hearing (Thursday), Rucker escaped from custody at the Gilliam Youth Corrections Facility at 2844 Downing Street and remains at large."

Police don't typically release photos of juveniles, but because of Rucker's very violent history they made an exception.

Officers responded to the scene just after 7 p.m. and set up a perimeter around the neighborhood. Residents were warned to stay inside while canines and officers searched the area.
