Friends, Husband Of Missing Denver Woman Plead For Safe Return

DENVER (CBS4)- Friends of a missing Denver woman are pleading for her safe return. They are organizing a search in Texas where she disappeared.

Leanne Bearden was last seen on Friday when she went hiking alone in a densely wooded area in Garden Ridge, Texas. She had some cash and no cellphone.

"Our fear is that she went for a little hike and something bad happened," said Bearden's husband Josh. "I knew after three hours something was really, really wrong."

Bearden, 33, and Josh were scheduled for job interviews in Denver on Monday.

The couple had been staying with Josh's parents near San Antonio after the couple returned from a two-year honeymoon where they traveled the world.

Several people are helping in the search including friends who live in Colorado.

"We are doing a volunteer search tomorrow morning," said friend Chris Bush. "Then search and rescue is going to follow up shortly after that."

No law enforcement in Texas is involved in the search for Bearden because she left the house on her own.

"She left on her own free will but what happened on her own, I don't know," said Josh.

On Friday a fundraiser is being organized at The Celtic Tavern in downtown Denver to help raise money for search efforts to find Bearden. The fundraiser will start at 8 p.m. at the bar, located on Blake Street.
