Jail Time Not Recommended For Colorado Farmers
DENVER (CBS4) – A prosecutor is not recommending jail time for the Colorado farmers whose cantaloupe was linked to a listeria outbreak.
On Friday a prosecutor recommended a judge give them five years of probation.
He argued Eric and Ryan Jensen were negligent but did not intentionally mean to hurt people.
The outbreak killed 33 people while 1146 others got sick.
The Jensens are facing federal charges related to the outbreak.
They could be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
