Man Dead After Shooting In Aurora

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – Aurora Police found an adult male that had been shot in the parking lot on Saturday.

Shots were fired just after midnight Saturday in the parking lot of the apartment complex on East 1st Avenue.

Police said the investigation is in the early stages, and there's no suspect description, which has neighbors feeling uneasy.

"When we bought this place it was a really nice area and stuff, and now it's getting really scary," said neighbor Cari Godfrey.

That change came to Godfrey's door.

"My husband and I were asleep, and the police came and knocked on our door around 12:45 a.m. and asked us if we heard or seen anything," Godfrey said.

When officers arrived they found a man shot in the parking lot of Godfrey's apartment complex. He died at a hospital.

"No one knows anything. We just heard about it," said neighbor Charlamar Eisom.

Eisom doesn't know if the man lived in the complex.

"I'm concerned now. To be honest I'll be looking for somewhere else to move. It's changing in this area so it's scary," said Eisom.

Godfrey didn't know the man either, but seeing a crime scene outside her door makes her emotional.

"I don't mean to sound religious, but God gave us the life to live and make it good for everybody," said Godfrey.

Officers are not releasing the man's name.
