Police: Fruita Teacher Arrested After Asking For Topless Photos From Students

FRUITA, Colo. (CBS4)- A teacher in Fruita who also coached tennis has been arrested after allegedly asking students to send him nude photos.

Randy Majors has been arrested and is facing three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and five counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a child.

Majors, 58, is accused of asking students to send him topless photos.

According to an arrest affidavit, a parent was going through her 16-year-old daughter's Facebook account and found a private message conversation between her daughter and Majors.

It was from October 2013 and Majors had asked the girl if she would send nude pictures of herself and to not tell anyone.

When Majors was confronted by police he admitted he had asked a couple of girls for indecent pictures. He also allowed police to take his computer.

Police later discovered several conversations with various students ranging in age from 15 to 17 years old. On Majors' computer police discovered images of current or former students or members of the tennis team.

Majors was a teacher at the Fruita 8-9 School and also coached tennis.

A school district representative said Friday that Majors has been on paid administrative leave since November.

"If these allegations are true, it's grounds for dismissal," District 51 spokeswoman Christy McGee said.

McGee said the district is looking into the case and "not just waiting for the law enforcement investigation."

Majors has been teaching in Mesa County schools since 1994.

He is scheduled to return to court Jan. 10.
