Colorado Ski Industry May Be Having Its Best Season Since Recession

DENVER (CBS4) - The ski industry in Colorado may be having its best season since before the recession.

The lodging rate is up about 7 percent from last year and revenues are up nearly 13 percent. Part of the reason is the recovering economy and the good ski conditions.

While the outlook for the rest of the season is looking good, the tourists visiting this holiday season could make it even better.

"As guests go home with their Christmas experience and their smartphones that have the power of a broadcast studio to tell the story to later season guests," Ralf Garrison with Destimetrics said.

The best year ever for the ski industry was 2007. It should be known around the first of February if this year will surpass that.
