Varlamov's Former Girlfriend Responds To Dropped Domestic Violence Charges

DENVER (CBS4) – The former girlfriend of Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov has made a statement responding to the dropping of the domestic violence charges against him.

Varlamov was accused of assaulting Evgeniya Vavrinyuk in October.

The district attorney dropped the charges citing questionable actions by the accuser's lawyer.

Prosecutors say he was trying to sell interviews with the media.

In a statement Monday, Vavrinuk says she was sadden by the district attorney's decision and adds "I understand that it is difficult to have enough evidence to prove domestic violence cases. I maintain that all my statements to the press and investigators have been truthful."
