Community Holds Prayer Vigil For Arapahoe High Shooting Victim

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) – Classmates and their families gathered to honor and pray for Arapahoe High School shooting victim Claire Davis.

About 100 people turned out Friday night to pray for Claire Davis who remains in a coma.

Candles lit up the inside of Shepherd Of The Hills Lutheran Church.

"We also come together tonight because someone who we love and maybe someone we don't even know, Claire, is down at the hospital and she is fighting for her life," said the church pastor.

It was an emotional night for many and students hoped to find support in each other.

"It's hard to feel these emotions by myself so I'm hoping I can do that with my friends and we can do that together," said student Chris Foster.

Prayers were said for everyone in the community including the family of shooter, Karl Pierson.

"Father we pray for the family that lost their son, you are a compassionate God, we ask you Lord to show your compassion and mercy on them," said the church pastor.

The evening ended with songs and messages for Claire in hopes that the prayers said there can help her and the rest of the community begin to heal.

Also on Friday, the Denver Foundation announced it has created a fund in Claire's honor to raise money for Arapahoe High School and any needs it might have in the coming months.
