DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police say a mother and father used their toddler to help them shoplift.

The incident happened at the King Soopers off Quebec Street in the Stapleton neighborhood.

Police say the couple had their 5-year-old child in a shopping cart and used him to cover up the stolen items.

A loss prevention team spotted the parents leaving the store without paying for the items.

Both parents were ticketed for shoplifting and wrongs to minors.
