DENVER (CBS4) - People are preparing to gather funds for "Colorado Gives Day." It's to encourage online donations for favorite causes.

Colorado Gives Day features a 24-hour period in which all Coloradans are encouraged to donate online to support their favorite causes. It will be held all day Tuesday.

A rally was held Monday at the state Capitol to bring awareness and support of the event.

It's an easy way to support Colorado nonprofits. Donations can be accepted at ColoradoGives.org, which features over 1,400 charities.

This is the fourth year Community First Foundation and FirstBank have partnered on the initiative. They distributed $8.7 million to Colorado nonprofits in 2010, $12.8 million in 2011 and $15.7 million in 2012.
