DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver City Council has changed their stance on a proposal that would limit where residents could smoke marijuana on their private property.

Council members gave initial approval Monday night to an ordinance to allow people to smoke pot in plain sight on their private property, just a week after they initially voted to prohibit that.

If the bill passes a final vote next week Denver residents will be able to smoke on their front yards, porches, or anywhere on their properties, regardless of whether it is visible from the street, sidewalk or anywhere else.
