Police Recover More Than 600 Items Of Stolen Property

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police have recovered more than 600 items believed to be stolen property.

According to police, the East Metro Auto Theft Team (EMATT) had been investigating a group of people they say were involved in motor vehicle thefts, burglaries, thefts from motor vehicles, and thefts of delivery packages since September and October.

"During the course of this investigation several arrests were made by EMATT which resulted in search warrants being executed at two storage units," police said in a statement. "One of the units was full of property, most of which is believed to be stolen."

Police said most of the items have been linked to victims of crimes, but there are still a lot of items that need to be identified.

"EMATT would like to identify the rightful owners so the property can be returned," police said.

Police have set up a website with photos of the recovered property so people can see if any of the items are theirs. An email account has also been set up for anyone that is able to identify stolen property.

"We ask that this email address only be used by victims that already have a police case number. If a victim's property is on the website but a police report has not been made that victim will need to report the crime to their local law enforcement agency before contacting EMATT."
