Expect Detours When Traveling Through DIA's Terminal East

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver International Airport announced on Thursday that detours will affect an entire terminal.

The detours are a result of the massive construction project underway at DIA. Those picking up or dropping off someone at Terminal East will hit the detours. They begin on Saturday.

Vehicles on Level 6, which is the departures area, will exit via a temporary ramp to the new Level 5 roadway exit. Those on Level 4, which is the arrival's area, are going to encounter a detour.

The detours will be in place so crews can demolish and reconstruct the elevated roadway, all part of the more than $500 million plan to build a Westin Hotel and conference center, public plaza and transit center.

Construction at DIA is expected to go through late 2014.
