Varlamov Still Playing As Legal Matter Won't Go Away

DENVER (CBS4) - He's having a break-out season for Colorado's hottest team. Now Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov is talking about his problems off the ice.

Varlamov says he just wants to play hockey, but that won't make the legal matter go away.

It's been six days since Varlamov turned himself in to Denver police on allegations of assault and kidnapping. The accusations stem from an argument with his former girlfriend.

The case is still under investigation and Varlamov still hasn't been formally charged with anything. His attorney says he's innocent.

The Avs continue to support their player and he'll be starting against Nashville on Wednesday night.

"Life is life. I want to play hockey and I'm excited to be here today in this locker room and I'm excited to play tomorrow," Varlamov said.
