Denver's Own Mike Alvarado To Use Altitude To His Advantage

DENVER (CBS4) - Normally Coloradans who want to witness a championship boxing match have to road trip it to Las Vegas, but not this weekend.

Denver's own Mike Alvarado will defend his super lightweight belt Saturday night at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield.

Alvarado is going to have his hands full against Ruslan Provodnikov, but Alvarado isn't worried -- he's "Mile High" Mike and he's all about "attitude" and "altitude."

"(The altitude) will, it does on everybody that (isn't) from here and (isn't) used to the altitude, that hasn't grown up in this city," he said. "You feel it. I don't care how long you try to come and train here for and adapt to this altitude. You will feel it and I'm going to make you feel it because I'm going to skyrocket his heart rate like crazy."
