Houdini The Dog Makes Great Escape From Kennel

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A dog named Houdini in Colorado Springs lived up to his name after he made a great escape.

At approximately 1 a.m. last Tuesday the pup wriggled out of his kennel room at the Humane Society and then left the building. He actually had to push the handle and walk out of two doors to get out, and it was all caught on surveillance cameras.

"He had to actually push down the handle, push the door open and walk out in both cases," Pressley Gretchen Pressley with the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region told KKTV in Colorado Springs.

But like an expert magician, Houdini saved the best act for last. He was found a mile away in a neighborhood with a new family eager to claim him.

"I think he's a wonderful dog, and as much as I would love for his owner to come and claim him, I wouldn't mind to welcome him into my family," Ashley Heister said.

The shelter decided to wait one day to see if Houdini's owners would claim him.
