Denver City Council Considers Grocery Bag Fees
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver City Council was scheduled to consider a proposal Monday night for a 5 cent fee for using paper or plastic bags at Denver supermarkets.
Backers of the fee say it will encourage people to use reusable canvas bags that help protect the environment.
The city council was expected to pass the measure but Mayor Michael Hancock is against it saying he doesn't want to nickel and dime consumers.
The mayor could issue his first ever veto.
