Big Thompson Canyon Search 90 Percent Complete

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Seven people are dead due to flooding and three people are missing and presumed dead -- all in Larimer County.

The number of unaccounted for has dropped to 82 – also all in Larimer County.

Larimer County is using both helicopters and ground crews to complete the search of the Big Thompson Canyon. The search is approximately 90 percent complete.

About 367 people have decided to stay in place, but many people living in Pinewood Springs are now making their way out.

"They're walking back out across the face there and they're meeting vehicles that are parked on the other side. There's still no access. That's what they're doing right now; they're about to walk across and friends and neighbors down the road are able to pick them up and take them where they need to go," Incident Commander Chuck Russell said.

Officials say as the names on the lists dwindle, the ones that remain are increasingly likely to be people actually missing, injured or dead.
