2nd Woman In Cedar Cove Presumed Dead

DENVER (AP) - A Larimer County official says an 80-year-old woman is missing and presumed dead after her home was washed away by the Big Thompson River.

Sheriff's spokesman John Schulz said Sunday she is the second woman presumed dead from the Cedar Cove area after the river rose Friday night.

Schulz says the woman was injured and unable to leave her home. When nearby residents arrived to help, they found the house gone.

The sheriff's office previously said a 60-year-old woman from the same area also was missing and presumed dead after the river destroyed her home.

The number of confirmed flood fatalities stands at four but is expected to rise.

Hundreds of people remained unaccounted for though officials say many are likely stranded and unable to phone for help.
