DENVER (AP) — An elderly man who was walking his dog has been rescued after being swept away by rushing water down a Denver drainage ditch.

Denver Fire Department spokesman Mark Watson said witnesses saw the man and his dog fall into the water on Friday and called for help.

Watson said the man was pulled from the water four blocks away and treated by Aurora rescuers.

The name of the man and his condition were not available.
