Prisoner Escapes From Minimum Security Facility Near Canon City

CANON CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - An inmate is on the lose following an escape from the Skyline Correctional Center near Canon City.

Skyline is a minimum security facility on the East Canon Prison Complex. Officials with the Colorado Department of Corrections said Jerry Chase wasn't at the 5 a.m. head count there on Wednesday morning.

Chase is 65 and is serving 12 years for for stalking and harassment out of Grand County.

Officials said a special operations team is searching for Chase.

Chase is elligible for parole in October.

Colorado Department of Corrections released the following statements about Chase's escape:

Chase is a white male, 6'00" height, 180 pounds, with bald head and thinning blonde hair on the sides of his head. ... The public is asked to avoid contact with the escapee and to notify local law enforcement of any contact or sightings.
