Burglary Suspect Shot By Police In Northglenn

NORTHGLENN, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Northglenn shot a burglary suspect Monday afternoon.

According to police, a man attempted a burglary while the resident was at home and officers were called to the home located in the 11400 block of Fowler Drive. The suspect wasn't able to get in the home and when officers arrived he was wielding a knife.

Officers ordered the suspect to drop the knife twice before firing shots.

The suspect, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to the hospital and was said to have had surgery for the gunshot wounds. His condition hasn't been released.

"This is one of those things we never hope to have happen, we don't like having happen, especially during the holiday," Cmdr. Beth Carmosino with the Northglenn Police Department said. "The officer did act appropriately. He took the proper actions, and it's what we've been trained to do."

The woman and her two children who were inside the home are okay.
