The crash happened about 7 a.m. Tuesday at 64th and Valmont Road.

The Colorado State Patrol said the driver didn't stop and struck Herndon as the truck turned into a gravel pit. Troopers said sun glare may have contributed to the crash.

The semi driver may be cited for the deadly crash.

The bike and Herndon were dragged several feet after the collision.

The road is popular with bicyclists and has bike lanes on both sides of the road. A bicycle painted completely white was dropped off at the location to commemorate the life that was lost there.
