Public Comment Sought On Proposed Pinon Ridge Uranium Mill

NUCLA, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado health department is accepting public input on a Toronto-based energy company's plan to build what would be the first new uranium mill in the United States in more than 30 years.

A meeting on the plan is being held Tuesday in Nucla to gather comment.

Energy Fuels Resources Corp. has filed documents with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment outlining a construction and decommissioning plan for the Pinon Ridge mill, which is planned in Montrose County. The company wants to turn uranium ore from mines into uranium oxide, which would be sent out of state to be turned into fuel for nuclear reactors.
