Thousands Of Pounds Of Electronics Recycled At Sports Authority Field

DENVER (CBS4) - A big pile of electronics filled the parking lot of Sports Authority Field at Mile High, but it was a good thing.

It was all part of the Arrow Electronics recycling event held on Sunday. Hundreds of people dropped off their used TVs, cellphones, computer monitors and small appliances to be recycled.

A new law in Colorado makes it illegal to dump electronics in the trash.

"This equipment is going to be taken in and a small portion of it will be repurposed and some of it donated back into communities that couldn't afford technology," an Arrow Electronics official said.

Arrow was expecting to collect about 4,000 pounds of electronics by the end of the day.
