GE Won't Build Solar Panel Plant In Aurora
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- General Electric will not be building a solar panel plant in Aurora which would have brought more than 350 jobs to the Denver metro area.
In 2011, GE said the plant would open in the Majestic Commerce Center near Interstate 70 and Tower Road in Aurora.
On Tuesday the electric company said it no longer had plans to complete the $300 million factory for thin-film solar power panels.
GE cited a glut of solar panels on the market and falling prices. GE also sold its intellectual property portfolio for making the cadmium telluride thin-film solar power panels to Tempe, Ariz.-based First Solar.
As many as 10 states competed for the plant. The Aurora site was picked in October 2011.
