Glenwood Springs Police Arrest Murder Suspect

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Glenwood Springs arrested a murder suspect after he turned himself in to authorities Thursday afternoon.

Police believe Fredy Cabrera shot two people at home that had been turned into apartments in Garfield County. He shot and killed one person and left another for dead.

That home is located off Highway 82 which is the road between Glenwood and Aspen.

Neighbors said the home has high turnover but the tenants are usually quiet.

"I head a 'pop-pop' sound and didn't think too much of it," said neighbor Tim Cooper. "Reminded me of fireworks, firecrackers or gunshots. I know what gunshots sound like."

A SWAT team searched multiple homes up and down the Roaring Fork Valley on Thursday looking for the 39-year-old. He may have been wearing a red and green shirt and possibly driving a maroon-colored Nissan Frontier.

Investigators continued to gather evidence from the crime scene. Police detectives teamed up with investigators from CBI.

"Last night they did their investigation then it was quite until then throughout the course of the day," said Cooper. "I guess they're really looking for him. I hope they find him."

Both the victims were rushed to the hospital where one of them died.
