Search On For Aggressive Bear In Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Wildlife officials are searching for an aggressive bear in Colorado Springs.

Wildlife officers searched Bear Creek Regional Park Tuesday morning, but came up empty handed.

The bear has reportedly approached people on trails, coming within several feet of one jogger who ran away to find help.

"We just stood up tall, scared the bear, warned him off," a woman said.

"This bear was very persistent and pursuing and coming after the three women. More than likely this bear is either actively looking for food because it has been fed before and it's associating people with food, or it is acting in a manner that would be consistent with a predatory encounter," a wildlife official said.

Wildlife officers will assess the bear's behavior once they find it. If they decide it has lost its fear of humans, the bear may have to be put down.
