PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) – World-renowned artist Christo is returning to Colorado this summer for two lectures about his latest projects.

Christo will talk about two works in progress, including Over the River planned for southern Colorado and the Mastaba, a project planned for Abu Dhabi featuring 410,000 multicolored oil barrels stacked to form sparkling colors to highlight Islamic architecture.

Christo is scheduled to speak Aug. 23 in Snowmass Village and Aug. 24 in Telluride.

Over the River would feature nearly six miles of silvery fabric panels suspended in sections along a 42-mile stretch of the Arkansas River between Salida and Canon City. The Bureau of Land Management has granted a permit for the temporary two-week project, but it is on hold pending lawsuits filed by opponents in state and federal courts.
