Couple Ties Knot On 7/20 To Send Message Of Hope

DENVER (CBS4)- Two survivors of the Aurora theater shooting have a positive reason to commemorate July 20 -- they took their wedding vows one year after the day many hope to forget.

Kirstin Davis and Eugene Han wanted to send a message of hope by getting married after they survived that tragic situation.

The couple was seated in the front row of the Century 16 Theater when the gunman started shooting during the midnight showing of the movie "The Dark Knight Rises."

Han said his first instinct was to protect his girlfriend from harm.

They wanted to dedicate their commitment to each other on July 20 to turn a negative day into a positive one.

"Today, now we can remember this day as a happy day," said Han.

The couple hopes their marriage demonstrates how to show love and forgiveness even under the most difficult circumstances.
