2 Children Missing From Westminster Located

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Westminster said two missing children who haven't been seen since Thursday were located Friday evening shortly after officers asked for the public's help finding the siblings. They were found safe.

Andrew Vigil, 9, and his sister Diamond Vigil, 10, went missing from the area of 73rd Avenue and Bryant Street on Thursday.

Police learned they ran away about 1 p.m. Friday while investigating a report of a stolen bicycle.

Police said three children had an argument with their mother at 7 p.m. Thursday about watching fireworks and ran away. The oldest child, a 12-year-old, returned home about midnight.

Andrew and Diamond were last seen in the neighborhood about 1 a.m. Friday.

Police believe the siblings frequently run away and find neighbors and friends to stay with. Officers are concerned because of the amount of time they have been missing.

Police conducted a door-to-door canvas of the surrounding neighborhood. Residents in that area also received a reverse 911 notification asking for help.

Andrew and Diamond often use public transportation by themselves to travel throughout the metro area. They regularly travel to family member's homes in Aurora and Denver. Police said they were found in Denver.

The children's mother, Monique Vigil, faces child abuse charges because she failed to tell police her children were missing.
