Fee For Disposable Grocery Bags Goes Into Effect In Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - All disposable and plastic bags now cost 10 cents each at grocery stores in Boulder.

The city uses about 33 million bags at checkout each year and it hopes the fee will reduce waste.

On Monday free re-useable bags were being handed out to shoppers.

The fee does not apply to bags used for items like produce, bulk food, meat and fish or prescriptions.
