Dylan Redwine Case Casts Ugly Spotlight On His Parents

DENVER (CBS4) - Mark Redwine told CBS4 his former wife is accusing him of killing his son Dylan Redwine now that the boy's remains have been found.

There are still no named suspects or persons of interest in the case. In a phone call, Dylan's father said he'd met with investigators Friday but never said what was discussed.

The tension between Dylan's parents is still high. Mark Redwine says his ex-wife called him a killer as they passed each other.

"I was standing outside and her vehicle passed by and turned around in the driveway in front of my house and as she was passing back by she muttered out the window, 'Murderer,' " Mark Redwine said.

Before the two were divorced Elaine Redwine filed for a temporary restraining order, calling her husband a credible threat to the family's safety.

"Dylan is – was -- a very charming, beautiful child," family friend Denise Hess said.

Hess is close friends with Elaine Redwine. She says Dylan's disappearance has never made sense.

"We still stand by our convictions that Dylan wouldn't have taken off on his own. He just wouldn't have," Hess said.

La Plata County investigators still do not know how Dylan's remains ended up on a steep and rugged mountain side 10 miles from his father's home. He was last seen at the home near Vallecito Lake the week before last Thanksgiving during a court ordered stay with his father.

Mark Redwine has his own theory on Dylan's death.

"I've always believed that one of two things happened. When he walked out the front door he set out for a destination and never made it. Or I've always thought a vehicle pulled up in front of my house and he knew who it was and he got into a vehicle with somebody," he said.

A memorial vigil for Dylan is scheduled for Saturday night in Bayfield. It's unclear if both his parents will be there.
