Father Charged After Toddler Falls From Car

DENVER (CBS4)- A father has been formally charged after his toddler fell from a moving vehicle.

Ross McCoy has been charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, child abuse without injury, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated driving after revocation and violation of a protection order.

The charges allege that McCoy was driving when his two-year-old son removed himself from a seat belt and opened a rear passenger door. The child then fell from the moving vehicle as it was going around a corner.

The charges further allege that he fled the scene without notifying police and was driving while his license was revoked.

McCoy remains in custody in the Denver Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on July 2 to be formally advised of the charges.
