Homeowner Interrupts Burglar, Gets Shot With Own Gun
LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - A homeowner was shot after catching a burglar stealing from his house Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened at a home in the 4600 block of Portofino Drive in South Longmont.
Police said the man was out walking when he came home and found a strange man in his house. He realized the intruder had one of his guns and tried to wrestle it away from him and was shot in the leg.
The homeowner was hospitalized but is expected to recover.
Police put nearby schools on lockdown while they searched for the suspect. He was described as a white or Hispanic man about 5-foot-9, 190 pounds, wearing "white painter's clothes" and a black baseball cap.
