Red Flag Conditions For Fire Near Walsenburg
WALSENBURG, Colo. (AP) - Firefighters battling the wildfire near Walsenburg are still facing red flag conditions.
Crews were building more containment lines around the 21-square-mile fire Tuesday and also working to hold the line already built around half of the fire. Helicopters are also dropping water on the fire, which was started by lightning Wednesday.
Full containment is expected by the beginning of next week.
Only two areas in Colorado are under red flag conditions -the Spanish Peaks and Sangre de Cristo Mountains in southern Colorado and a portion of northern Colorado. The Big Meadows Fire in Rocky Mountain National Park could produce some smoke as a result
